This holiday season, we headed back to Newfoundland. We spent 10 days with family and friends, catching up, eating, drinking, gaming, and relaxing.

We arrived in St. John's at 4:30 am on the day before Christmas Eve. Our flight was slightly delayed but we were just happy to make it back to the rock without any flight cancellations! This was our second Christmas in St. John's, with the rest of our Christmases being spent in the UK.

During our time back in Newfoundland, we enjoyed lots of time spent with family and friends including the annual - although first time for us - Cousin's Crepes, our standard Christmas Day visiting and traditions, and Boxing Day Star Wars. We also dragged some newbies out for a family curling game and played lots of others games of the board, video (especially the new SNES!), and VR varieties.

In terms of homegrown games, Luke took advantage of eager playtesters for his upcoming game Run Jump Fail, even recording some sound effects during his trip, and we played the latest VR escape room released by Peter and Victor's company New Island Studios... Needless to say, we're a gaming family.

Despite what looked like an impending storm on the 29th, we took an afternoon trip out to Bay Roberts for a wedding celebration for Elizabeth's cousin Alex, and Alex. On the way back, once the sun had set, we stopped at Port de Grave's Annual Boat Lighting. 67 boats were decorated and participated throughout the holiday season, with local residents also making an extra effort to decorate their houses so the whole area was incredibly festive.

Our last full day in St. John's was a busy New Year's Eve, with Elizabeth's mom hosting 27 people for lunch (!) followed by an open house in the evening where we got to see our buddies and enjoy sparklers and champagne in the snow.

Finally, right before we hopped on a plane we managed to squeeze in a snowy hike with a dog that loves nothing more than a face full of snow! We had a fun trip back to Newfoundland for Christmas and are glad that we got to spend so much time with family and friends.
