Crêpes and Macarons Saturday

This past weekend was a busy one. With Luke participating in a weekend-long Game Jam, it was tough to find much time for a Something Saturday so we decided to stay relatively close to home to check out some tasty treats in the neighbourhood of Yorkville!

On Saturday morning Luke took a short break (from programming his little heart out to create this game: Serenity) to go out for breakfast at Crêpes à GoGo. This small crêperie on Yorkville Ave apparently gets busy during the day, but we made a reservation in advance and also showed up 2 minutes after opening so - not surprisingly - we had no trouble getting a table. The menu is divided between savory and sweet crêpes, so we knew we had to try one of each! ...Not one of every crêpe, although that would have been awesome, just one savory and one sweet. For now.

The crêpes we picked were:
 - St Laurent: black forest ham, scrambled egg, cheddar cheese, and tomato
 - Charly: cream cheese, sugar, strawberry slices, and cinnamon

At Crêpes à GoGo they fold up the crêpes for ease of consumption, so no knife and fork are needed. If you'll be splitting the Crêpes, they can make two small ones, so let them know in advance.

After finishing up at Crêpes à GoGo, we trotted down the street to MoRoCo Chocolate Boutique and picked up some French macarons. There were so many flavours to chose from, and they were so tasty!

Unfortunately our morning out had to be cut a bit short because Luke had to make it back to jam away at his game, but we did enjoy snacking on the macarons throughout the afternoon. Here are some more photos from our Saturday morning adventure:
While Luke was Game Jamming, Elizabeth met up with the rest of her Private Refugee Sponsorship group, Together We Grow, and they have some exciting news:
Together We Grow has been matched with the Syrian family that we will be sponsoring into Canada! But the family is larger than we had anticipated so it means that we need to raise another $21,000 (ASAP!) to bring the entire family to Canada and cover their expenses for one year. All donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support, and thanks to all of you who have donated so far!
