This past weekend we treated ourselves to a fancy meal on Saturday and an amusing musical on Sunday!
Since we'll be heading to Newfoundland next weekend for the Brier, we took it easy this past weekend. Plus, the beginning of March marks 5 years of Luke & Elizabeth (and 4.5 years of Something Saturdays), so we wanted to do something special to celebrate.
It seemed like the perfect excuse to check out a new (fancy) restaurant. Lucky for us, last week Elizabeth's office held a charity auction and she walked away with a bottle of red wine and a gift certificate to e11even restaurant. e11even is located in the Entertainment District and it focuses on North American classics with a twist.

On Saturday night, we made use of our gift card and went to e11even. We started off with some cocktails, then Elizabeth opted for the Honey Peanut Shrimp to start and Signature Roast Chicken as a main. Luke went for the Double Cut Bacon, with Maple Sherry Glaze, to start and his main was the daily special of Cod. All we can say is: so much food. It wasn't only North American cuisine, it was also North American-sized portions. We were originally planning to get dessert, but Elizabeth started to get full after the appetizer!
Then on Sunday night, we went to the musical, The Book of Mormon; we had heard great things about is so we purchased tickets a few months ago. We were not disappointed. The musical is about a pair of missionaries that are sent to Africa to preach the Mormon religion. It was created by the writers of South Park so, as to be expected, it was crude at times, but so so so funny. It was at the Princess of Wales theatre and we had a great night out. Highly Recommended.

And that wrapped up our weekend! Curious what we were doing this time in previous years? This time last year, we went skiing at Blue Mountain, two years ago we were learning how to skate ski, and in 2014 we went sliding on a few hills around St. John's. Lots of outdoor winter fun!
