This past weekend we went to Eastport with Elizabeth's family! We spent most of the weekend exploring, hanging out at the beach, and enjoying the beautiful weather that Eastport had to offer.

Eastport is a 3 to 3.5 hour drive from St. John's, and we drove out on Friday night. By the time we got there, it was after dark so we didn't get to do much that night except get settled away. We stayed at Mike's B&B, which only opened this year, and it was really nice!

On Saturday morning we were treated with bacon and eggs before heading out to explore the area. First, we went to Eastport Beach, which was only a few minute drive from the B&B. The weather started off a bit overcast, but it was over 25 degrees all day, so it was still very warm.

We walked along the beach and then explored the rocky area nearby. It lead to a couple more beaches and we collected some rocks on the way.

After the beach, we drove to Salvage and went on a hike to a lookout point. We had no idea how long the trail was, or where we were going to end up, but the end result was great! We even managed to see a whale from the lookout.
On the way back from the hike, the weather started to clear and warm up, so we were ready to hit the beach!

As we were driving through Salvage on our way to the beach, we had to drive through the annual accordion festival. The festival was going on throughout the weekend, and the shows were performed in fishing stages in the area.

Then we got some lunch and made our way to Sandy Cove. While we were there, we went swimming, built sandcastles, and spent the afternoon hanging out at the beach. The weather was perfect.

After swimming in the salt water all afternoon (and getting sandy), we went to Crooked Tree Park, a freshwater pond near Sandy Cove, to clean ourselves up. The pond is very shallow, but it was refreshing none-the-less.

We went out for supper at a local restaurant and then went back to Sandy Cove for a fire on the beach at night. The next day, we went to Eastport Beach and played some volleyball, attempted to make another sandcastle, and dipped our feet in the water. But the water at Eastport Beach seemed to be much cooler than at Sandy Cove, so we didn't do much swimming.

After the morning at Eastport Beach, we went for a swim in Crooked Tree park, and then made our way back to St. John's (in a 30+ degree car).

All in all, a great weekend! Here are some more pictures:

Looks like a great weekend with beautiful weather! Glad that Mike's B&B didn't turn out to be a dud.
