On Thursday night, we filled our bellies (and livers) at the 8th annual Savour Food and Wine Show at the Delta Hotel!

We were busy playing in the Bon Voyage curling tournament this past weekend, so we opted to do our Something Saturday on Thursday night this time around. We went to the Savour Food and Wine show with Elizabeth's parents having secured the last four tickets to the show the day before - we were cutting it close!

The ballroom in the hotel was set up as an expo of sorts, with countless booths for restaurants and wine/beer/spirits companies. They also had a lifestyle section in the main lobby as an extension to the show this year.

Upon arrival, we were given a plate with a wine glass holder attached which made it much easier to wander around the ballroom and load up on food and booze. We started with some mussels, before piling on some curry, then moving on to try some wine, then some Screeched-in-beef, then scallop sandwiches, then pulled pork, then fish and chips, and the list goes on and on... The variety was amazing, with restaurants as diverse as Ches's (a local fish 'n chips chain) and the Reluctant Chef (fancy downtown restaurant) all together in one room.

The four of us did a pretty thorough job of sampling a little bit of everything: every item of food, every cocktail, even a little bit of champagne. It was all delicious, but once we'd scoured the place we did settle on a few favourites. The unanimous vote for best hot dish was India Gate's Chicken Muglai, and the Moscow Mules on offer were the fan favourite cocktail, resulting in more than one "slushed" individual.

Once we'd sampled nearly all of the main dishes, it was time for dessert. We tried to squeeze in as much dessert as we could, but it is a real skill to be able to pace yourself all night and still have room for dessert (and more cocktails) at the end of it all.

We were handed gift bags as we were leaving which contained some coupons for local restaurants, some local magazines, a shot of spiced rum, and an ice cream scoop. All in all, it was a really fun evening and we're very happy we managed to get hold of a few tickets. We'd thoroughly recommend anyone check it out when it comes around again next year, your stomach will not be disappointed.

Here are some photos from the Savour Food and Wine Show as well as a couple from our curling tournament this past weekend:

Ches's was there?! I can't believe I missed it haha. It's been years since I've had that fine cuisine.
