New Home Saturday

In case you missed the news, we moved to Toronto last week! So this past Saturday we moved into out new place and it has been non-stop (mostly good) chaos ever since!

But the day before we set off for Toronto, we did something that we'd never done before - catch the sunrise from Cape Spear, the easternmost point in North America. It was unbelievably amazing, and such a great way to say farewell (until Christmas) to our favourite province.

Then on Friday it was time to travel over 2100 km (or over 3000 km if you're driving), from St. John's to Toronto. On our first night here, we stayed in Elizabeth's aunt's apartment and checked out some of the local spots. Then on Saturday we hopped out of bed bright and early to take our two suitcases, plus carry-ons, in a taxi to our new place.

Although we experienced a slight hiccup when getting access to our apartment, we settled in quickly and set out to explore the neighbourhood. It didn't take us long to find our local grocery store, coffee shop, subway stop(s) and movie theatre. Yes, you read that correctly. We have a neighbourhood cinema. Lovin' it.

Sunday followed with an epic trip to IKEA, which resulted in Monday through Wednesday being epic IKEA furniture-building days. Blood, sweat, and tears went into these pieces of furniture. Literally. We had to wipe blood off a couple of items.

The past few days have been centred around getting the apartment in functioning order as well as getting ourselves in functioning order as new residents of Ontario. It has been busy, but exciting. Our boxes finally arrived on Thursday so now we're working to get everything unpacked.

This week we have done more shopping that either one of us have ever done before, experienced 20 degree November weather, and dropped into a Pop-up British Consulate that featured some James Bond cars and a wooden moose painted in a Union Jack. It has definitely been a Something Saturday/Week.
