Shakespearean Taiwanese Golf Saturday

So our Something Saturday this week was as random as it sounds! We went to Formosa Tea House for lunch, then went mini-golfing, then went to Cymbeline performed by Shakespeare by the Sea, and then went out for Ellice's birthday supper and played pool afterwards. Epic day.

Formosa Tea House is somewhere that we've been meaning to go to for a while, and Luke actually ended up going earlier on this week, but it was so good (and cheap!) that he wanted to go again. Plus, Elizabeth was curious to try it out.

It's at the intersection of Lemarchant Rd and Cookstown Rd, and has been open since 2012. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the menu options are delicious and very reasonably priced. We paid $22 total for our food/drinks and we picked five items from the menu, and each had a glass of lemonade. Our favourites were the dumplings, the rice noodle, and the sticky bun.

This restaurant is one of the best kept secrets in the downtown area - great atmosphere and great food!

After that, we went mini-golfing at Admiral John's Mini Golf. There was a bit of wind there, which was a relief because this past week in St. John's has been very hot - around 28 degrees, but felt like 37 degrees because of the humidity.

Mini-golfing was a lot of fun and Luke ended up winning by 2 points. But considering the fact that we skipped one of the holes to get ahead of a bachelorette party, the jury is still out.

That evening, we went to see Cymbeline performed by Shakespeare by the Sea. A couple of weeks ago we went to see them put on Julius Caesar in Bannerman Park, and we enjoyed it so much that we wanted to take in another one of their productions. This play took place halfway up Signal Hill and, like when we saw Julius Caesar, you bring a blanket or lawn chair and can have a picnic during the show. We took advantage.

Cymbeline is a  a play that neither one of us were familiar with, so we did have to refer to the program a few times to make sure that we knew what was going on, but it was really well done and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
After Cymbeline, we went out for Ellice's birthday supper and played pool afterwards. Unfortunately, we didn't take many pictures throughout the day, so there's no slideshow at the end of this post. But it was a fun day and we had a great time!

Until next Saturday!

Rice noodles, you say? I'm intrigued. ;)

Humidity sucks! Currently dying of it down here.
