Over the weekend we attended a talk by Canadian astronaut, Jeremy Hansen, and saw some talented and skillful dogs at the SuperDogs show!

On Friday, we went to a WISE-NL Speaker Series presentation by Major Jeremy Hansen, at Memorial University. Although he hasn't had the opportunity to go to space yet, he has completed astronaut training and currently works at NASA so he had some interesting stories to tell. Plus, considering how accomplished he is as a fighter pilot and an astronaut, the talk wasn't all about him. He spoke about the future of the space industry, other astronauts’ experiences, as well as pursuing goals in general. It was very inspirational and reminded us of how mind-blowing and cool space is overall.

Then on Saturday we went to the President’s Choice SuperDogs show with Elizabeth’s family! SuperDogs constantly tours across North America, and features the family dogs of experienced trainers. The show was mainly targeted at children, but anyone who has a dog or is even slightly interested in the amazing things that dogs can do would find it entertaining as well. Plus, going to a show that was directed at kids was a unique experience in itself.

There were a bunch of different parts of the show including obstacle courses, games, dogs catching Frisbees, dogs jumping really high, and dogs doing random tricks that we hadn't even thought of before. We were particularly impressed that all of the dogs, even the small ones, seemed to be able to jump from the ground into their owners' arms!

Unfortunately, it was tough to take a good picture of the dogs because they were usually moving very quickly and the lighting wasn't ideal.
Overall, the SuperDogs show was a lot of fun and you could tell that the dogs were genuinely enjoying themselves. There were a couple of times that a dog would forget to jump over, or go around, an obstacle in haste which just added to the amusement and charm of it all.

Afterwards, there was an opportunity for people to go down on the floor to meet the dogs, so we went down but it was too crowded to even pet the dogs. Well, unless you don't mind pushing dog-obsessed 10 year old kids around... So we posed with the blow-up dog instead.

Then on Sunday we celebrated Maebe, our personal SuperDog, 's 6th birthday! Now that we (mostly Elizabeth) have some new trick ideas, Maebe will be in for a real treat in the coming weeks.

Finally, we should mention that our next blog post will be delayed as we are going to Toronto for a week! As always, we have lots planned, and it'll be Luke's first time in Toronto we so want to make the most of it.

Here are some pictures from this past weekend:
