This weekend the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) got underway, taking over the city with premieres, parties and a lot of red carpet. We couldn't let the festivities pass us by, so we got our hands on a few tickets for us and Vicki, and set out to see a couple of great films.

This last weekend was the first in a while that we didn't have anything planned, so at the last minute we booked some train tickets to take us up to Ottawa! Arriving on Friday evening, we enjoyed sampling the sights of the nation's capital (aka Elizabeth's birthplace).
Our plan for this weekend was to head over to Yonge Street for the Open Street festival. After waking up late and taking our sweet time to get ready, however, the festivities were over by the time we arrived. Fortunately, there always seems to be 10 festivals on the go at any given time in Toronto so we just headed over to Spadina to check out the Chinatown street festival.
On Tuesday, Elizabeth's Aunt Vicki treated us to a Cirque du Soleil show, Luzia! It was a birthday gift for both of us, although Luke's birthday isn't until December. We're not complaining - the show was unbelievable!
After a day of slowly cooking ourselves out in the sun on Toronto Islands on Saturday, we opted for an indoor activity on Sunday in a large, air conditioned building - the Aga Khan Museum of Islamic Art.
Our Something Saturday was a little early this week because Luke was out of town over the weekend, checking out the Formula 1 festivities in Montreal with some of his friends from university. So on Wednesday, we headed out to check out a night of the Lulaworld music festival!
This weekend, between a birthday party in the park, and some evening drinks with friends, we managed to head over to Queen Street East for the Riverside Eats and Beats Streetfest to check out some local art at the annual Riverdale Art Walk.
After a couple of fun days in Hong Kong, we set off for our next Asian city, Taipei! Although it rained on us almost every day and we had a few mishaps along the way, it's home to some of the friendliest people, and this city definitely has a special place in our hearts.
Starting in mid-May we embarked on an epic 12 day trip to three East Asian cities - Hong Kong, Taipei, and Tokyo. Our first stop was Hong Kong and although we only had 1.5 days actually in the city, we made the most of it with some delicious food and unbelievable views!
This weekend we continued to make good use of our ROM memberships by checking out their Friday Night Live event. Yet another great way to enjoy the museum, this time with live music and alcohol!
